Because my books are largely about mending broken marriages, I wanted to offer a toolbox of marriage resources that I have found to be both biblically accurate and compassionate. Some resources, while perhaps well intentioned, either fall short of biblical truth or else they feel like salt in a fresh wound. I have tried to curate a list of tools for you that approach pain with gentleness and declare God's truth into our darkest and most vulnerable moments.
Please know that Jesus is enough. His sacrifice is sufficent for even the most broken parts of your heart. As you navigate difficult seasons of life and marriage, resist the urge to fold in on yourself. Instead, reach up to the God who loves you perfectly and will never leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). The Lord is intimately involed in your grief; He keeps track of your tossing and puts your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). Though it may feel like everyone has turned their backs on you, Jesus walks beside you through this heartache (Matthew 28:20). He loves you beyond words, beyond life, beyond death, and He holds all things in His capable hands, including you, my dear sweet friend (Colossians 1:15-23). Don't give up hope.
This toolbox will expand as I find/vet new resources, so please feel free to check back in the future for more. If you know of a great resource that I ought to check out, please email me at lauraclarkcheever@gmail.com
Impossible to Forgive? by Paul Niven
LAURA'S NOTE: Many books will tell you that you NEED to forgive, but very few actually tell you HOW to forgive. This book offers real actionable steps that are both doable and productive. It was instrumental for me in moving past betrayal and into restoration.
Marriage. Family. Friends. How well you forgive determines how well you live. Do you know how real forgiveness looks? Those closest to you can be the most difficult to forgive. Hurts that are repeated over and over...betrayals and broken trust...dreams that have been crushed...and harsh words that echo in your soul. Is it really possible to recover? Can your relationship(s) be revived? Is forgiveness just a concept...or can you finally discover true restoration with those you once loved so much? This could be the most eye-opening book you've ever read...and the most exciting! There is a miracle about to happen in your life - because miracles DO happen when God's Word is revealed and obeyed! About the author: Paul & Cherrie Niven were on the brink of divorce after 15 rocky years of marriage. This book shares the truths they discovered that transformed their lives. They now use these truths to help other families experience that same amazing breakthrough - forgiveness and restoration are possible!
