God created a very good world, and we destroyed it with our sin. Even as Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden for their disobedience, God promised them a Son who would be born of woman to crush the head of the Serpent. God’s people waited and waited and waited for the promised Messiah.
Finally, the child was born! God the Father sent His son, Jesus Christ, to enter the world as a human, born of a virgin, for the express purpose of living a perfect life, fulfilling the Law, dying a sinner’s death, and rising on the third day by the power of the Holy Spirit in order to secure salvation for His people. Through His death, the punishment for sin was met for all who would put their faith in Him. Because He did this, sinners can be reconciled to a holy God and be adopted into His family forever.
The gospel is the victorious announcement that God saves sinners! Not by our might, but by His. To be a Christian is to be a cosmic traitor who was ransomed by the King of Creation through His own life and blood. We are saved by grace, through faith, in Christ, according to scripture, and for the glory of God. This is the Greatest Story Ever Told, and you are invited to be a part of it!
